Belkin F7D1101 wireless adapter doesn't work at all

Postby Shockz » Wed Aug 31, 2011 5:27

Hello, all! First post here; recently found and decided to try out Sabayon on a compsci teacher's recommendation. (I don't really know Linux in general very well beyond the GUI and some very basic terminal operations, so I hope you'll excuse any obvious noobiness showing through.)

Anyway, down to business. My Belkin F7D1101 USB Wi-fi adapter doesn't seem to work with Sabayon's built-in drivers; the best I can get is a "device not ready". Now, I had serious problems getting it up and running in Ubuntu...actually, come to think of it, I only got it working once, and it immediately stopped working on the next reboot and never worked again. And I can't find the forum thread that helped me get it working that one time. :(

Any ideas? I'll be happy to provide any more information if needed. (I'm on a 64-bit system and installation.)

Doesn't look promising. See the following Ubuntu Forums post: howto: Belkin F7D1101 with RTL8192SU from staging, which may or may not work. As you are using 64-bit Linux, if you find the 64-bit version of the driver then the directory would be /lib64/ rather than /lib/. I'm not sure if the 32-bit binary would work in your installation, but it might as SL's 64-bit installation is actually multilib. Anyway, good luck.
