Sharing mobile broadband via wifi

Postby Raghav_K » Fri Apr 22, 2011 13:27

Am jus wondering if it would be possible to share my mobile broadband connection via usb wifi adapter(ad-hoc mode), to my android phone.

i connect to mobile BB via wvdial, and the interface would be ppp0

i have a netgear wg111v3 usb wifi adapter..

i have no clue how to do this though... the usb adapter was not recognized initially, but it was recognized after installing madwifi.

here are the outputs of the commands you might need to help me out :)

P.S: i was using an wired ethernet when posting this instead of mobile bb..

ifconfig

Here Sabayon KDE. Connected to the internet throught wifi served by a netbook with debian-gnome. On Sabayon KDE I use the simple knetworkmanager provided by default.
The netbook share the connection with nm-applet of networkmanager, but connect the internet with a modem for mobile broadband with gnome-ppp (aka wvdial app).
I tested until 3 notebook connected to the netbook that function like an internet gateway, and a small home server.
I have no smartphone at the moment, and never tested with them.
But in the past I used my mobile phone like modem to the internet and connected to him throught bluetooth.
I have bad experiences using knetworkmanager for the sharing. But I think the networkmanager's versions after the 0.8.2 are good. I hope. On debian I have now an old 0.8.1 that works. On sabayon a 0.8.2.
The Freedom Technologies Are Available!
I love KDE rolling release distributions that just works!
