As it took me a couple of days to get this working under SL, I thought I'd post the information here in case anyone else is trying to use this mobile broadband stick with SL and KDE in South Africa.

I right-clicked on the NetworkManager icon on the KDE Panel and used Manage Connections... to set up the modem as follows:

Allow Deflate compression
Use TCP header compression
The stick works a treat with SL and KDE. Why, oh why, do manufacturers not provide this information so that Linux users can configure their installation to work with these sticks?
