SL5 - wireless connecttion - confused.

The first time - that is what I did.
On the Systray I chose connect.

The second time I am running wicd-client it throws errors:

Connecting to daemon...
Can't connect to the daemon, trying to start it automatically...
Wicd daemon is shutting down!
Done loading.
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/wicd/wicd-client.py", line 88, in wrapper
    return func(*args, **kwargs)
  File "/usr/lib/wicd/wicd-client.py", line 546, in _trigger_scan_if_needed
    wireless.Scan(False)
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'Scan'



Then ends up with a popup message "disconnected!".

I am now back to the NetworkManager.

No luck again.
I logged on to my router web site to check my wireless settings, chosing WPA, and
made sure I have the correct password.

It was complaining about wicd service not being up, are you sure that it was running?
It should be started automatically if you did:

rc-update add wicd default


you can start it manually launching:

Code: Select all

/etc/init.d/wicd start


as root.
