On the Systray I chose connect.
The second time I am running wicd-client it throws errors:

AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'Scan'
Then ends up with a popup message "disconnected!".
I am now back to the NetworkManager.
No luck again.
I logged on to my router web site to check my wireless settings, chosing WPA, and
made sure I have the correct password.
