I've had the same problem with my Acer. Sabayon's new release almost solves the issue, but after it installs the restricted drivers, network manager and wicd kept trying to run simultaneously. Crazy.

lol, I gave up in the end because I don't like the hassle when I want a reinstall, I don't remember the right order anymore to get it fixed. I will try it at the end of the year when my notebook gets replaced.
