How to restart Network connection

Hi,

i noticed three problems with my ethernet/dhcp network connection with sabayon (3.4f)

- If I unplug my ethernet cable for some reason, and then I replug it, my network connection dont get back automatically

- If i left my computer @ night with some background network activity like ftp transfert, when I wake up and the transfert is done, my network is
unreachable, It seems that if the connection is inactive for too long, the computer gets disconnected

i tried /etc/init.d/Networkmanager restart as root but dont fix the problem, The only solution i found at the moment is to reboot
