I have Sabayon running on a fancy new box. I have an older machine that can also run the 32-bit version reasonably, but it is rather slow. I can ssh between the machines, but I cannot do remote X.
If I am logged onto the slower machine, alpha, and I ssh -X beta, I can log in, but the DISPLAY var is null. Any x program, even a trivial one like xclock, says, cannot open display.
One good use for the older machines would be to xdmcp to the newer machine.
What is the procedure for setting up xdmcp and remote x over ssh? It is a closed home network; xdmcp does not need to be secure.
Thanks,
Andrew
