Re: can´t get ip-address

Sorry for the late reply.

# net-setup
follow the instuctions
# ifconfig

also check /etc/resolv.conf as it has to have the isp dns in it if it can not get it from the adsl modem
nameserver 122.233.122.233
nameserver 122.233.133.97
This above is wrong numbers but gives you an idea.

Also did you do the rc-update add net.eth0 default ?
See the before 3.4e ipw3945 ... post on top of the networking section something in the links or there could help.
Not sure with adsl if you have to connect manually then maybe you should have ppp installed not sure but if router dials then the router is 192.168.33.1 and adding this ip to the /etc/resolv.conf as a dns or first nameserver can also cheat past this for the time being.
nameserver 192.168.33.1
and all others as 2nd and 3rd nameservers from ISP dns.

net-setup will change the /etc/resolv.conf every time it is run.

Have a look at this as it is the default way we used to do it maybe something in there can help.
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/h ... art1_chap3

Is there a alternative way to check if the adsl modem to router has every setting correct or if the router is getting a dns from the adsl modem ?

Hope something here helps.
