md5sums and such

md5sums and such

What is a md5sums ive read suome of the wiki on it but im not sure if i understand when i need to install a linux os all i do is go to the ftp and download it burn it and then install it and it works but what is the whole deal with md5sums.

MD5sums is used to check if the file was downloaded correctly without errors. Thats about it..
