"Update World" Problem.[Solved]

Postby Xorcerer » Thu Jul 19, 2007 15:23

The first, I tried to update.
Code: Select all
Xorcerer-Laptop xz # emerge -uDN world
Calculating world dependencies... done!

!!! Error: the dev-python/mmpython package conflicts with another package;
!!!        the two packages cannot be installed on the same system together.
!!!        Please use 'emerge --pretend' to determine blockers.

For more information about Blocked Packages, please refer to the following
section of the Gentoo Linux x86 Handbook (architecture is irrelevant):

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?full=1#blocked

Then I unmerge it, retried.
Code: Select all
Xorcerer-Laptop xz # emerge -uDN world
Calculating world dependencies -
!!! Multiple versions within a single package slot have been
!!! pulled into the dependency graph:

('ebuild', '/', 'sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.19.2-r2', 'merge') pulled in by
  ('ebuild', '/', 'media-video/mplayer-1.0.20070622-r1', 'merge')

('installed', '/', 'sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.22-r1', 'nomerge') pulled in by
  ('ebuild', '/', 'media-video/transcode-1.0.3', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'sys-apps/sysvinit-2.86-r8', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'sys-apps/iproute2-2.6.20.20070313', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'media-gfx/sane-backends-1.0.18-r2', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'net-misc/openssh-4.6_p1-r2', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'sys-apps/hal-0.5.9.1', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'media-libs/xine-lib-1.1.7', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'net-misc/iputils-20070202', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'sys-libs/libcap-1.10-r10', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'sys-apps/util-linux-2.12r-r7', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'sys-libs/glibc-2.6', 'merge')
  ('ebuild', '/', 'x11-drivers/linuxwacom-0.7.4_p3', 'merge')
  ('installed', '/', 'media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-headers-3.1', 'nomerge')

It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in the
dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can not be
installed simultaneously.

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page
or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

!!! Depgraph creation failed.

I have tried umerging the mmpython, but nothing changed.

What should I do?

in those cases you need to emerge the conflicting packages seperately

emerge mplayer and than continue on
