Upgrade each version? (Newbie)

How easy is it/how do you upgrade each version? For example, how do you upgrade from 3.4 L2 to 3.4 L3, or 3.3 to the latest version? Or do you need to do a fresh install each time?

I'm a sabayon newbie as well, but AFAIK you just boot off the new DVD, and let it detect your current Sabayon installation. It will ask you if you want to do a fresh installation, or update it, and you can choose the update option. This will update all packages to the new version numbers, and install anything new.

I'm sure an expert will correct me if I'm wrong.

Well I prefer the update method in the link you posted, but I'd caution newbies against it. Takes a good working knowledge of portage, as well as linux in general, and good skills with google -- but I think it's worth it.

N00bs, please do us all a favor and become comfortable with portage before doing a world update in SL. PLEASE.

Portage is not difficult to deal with, but n00bs flip out when everything doesn't go according to plan and seem incapably of listening to portage's errors to fix what is going wrong.

It is MUCH prefereable if you just update packages as needed and update via the new .iso through sixth sense.

About having the live cd (or DVD) detect your system and upgrade, do be careful if you have more than one distro installed. It can select the wrong distro, which will hose it down pretty effectively. So keep track of what is on which partition, and double check before you start the process.

Is this a known bug? If not someone should probably post it on bugzilla. (I haven't encountered it so I wouldn't be a good person to post on bugzilla).
