Sabayon X CoreCDX USB boot error

Postby Martux » Tue Oct 09, 2012 18:11

Hi!
I get boot errors with the CoreCDX installed on an USB stick (with LiveLinux USB creator).
This is the error message:
Code: Select all
Syslinux 4.04 EDD Load Error - Boot Error

and that's it... Any ideas?
Btw: an older Sabayon 9 DVD image just installed fine with LiveLinux USB creator (Lili).

Pls ... make a new USB stick with
Code: Select all
dd if=Sabayon_image.iso of=/dev/sdx bs=4M

Where you need your Sabayon.iso file and /dev/sdx is your USB-Stick.
Watch there is NO number in sdx!
I assume something in ISO image has changed, Chakra recommends to use dd because of incompatibilities in Unetbootin.

That worked pretty well, but guess what? I installed it that way and after the Grub screen all I get is a black screen. I had this issue with an older daily image as well.

After waiting for some time, can you change to console (with ctrl-Alt-F1) and login?
I mean can you read anything then also?

Nope, that doesn't work either... BUT:
If I boot in "debug modus", it kind of works. Kind of:
It boots until I get a message from syslinux(?) like this:

/bin/sh : could not open tty - Job control deactivated.
Type exit for normal startup.

When I type exit, it normally boots into fluxbox.
So far, so good, but oh my then the problems just continue.
Firing up the text-mode installer makes me wonder. I cannot select a partition, only full disk? Is this a joke? Am I blind, missing something?
Trying anaconda instead only crashes immediately.
Should I open a new thread for all this?
Installing Sabayon on this box is really giving me a hard time. Funny: It's running already Gentoo for years...
