You could use Gparted to partition the disk.
however if you want files open I'd use ext3 or etx4
the winfuse drivers for btrfs if you need to fix something are read only....
if you are in dual boot using windows.... ext3 can be enabled by windows ext2fsd , it supports ext4 somewhat....
neosmart for editing windows and neogrub.... it adds a windows / dos grub that loads the real grub for chain loading...
So far on Sabayon 10 I havent had much issues prior Sabayon 6/7 the boot crashed due to Fressno USB 3 support
anyhow with notepad++ on windows for instance ... you can edit config files if system downs....
you can update the live in ram in rigo/sulfar and add Gparted...
then select basic disk/s the custom layout... you can make parts or use a mono /
since I use a 80 gig partition a 24 gig swap (and soon bumping my system ram by anoher 8 gigs)
rest is onld ntfs , and factory 16 gig slice , wich i prolly will NTFS a 16 gig Stick and archive off my drive ...
the ASUS NB imaging gose fubar redoing windows if 2 drives are installed....
/dev/sda1 ntfs windows
/dev/sdb1 fat 32 (GPT BOOT) (laptop can use GPT /UEFI for boot can be a pest to add in on bios manually by path)
However it isnt the bios defualt as mine is an early uefi it still trys to go YE OLDEN School , but when the boot sec got punched by last install atempt it saved me from having to dig up windows 7 disk and mess with it. after booting up was able to use the neosmart boot edit for windows 7 and fit it.
If i migrate over to windows 8 its supposed to be less of a ram pig.... however it forces UEFI so a warning better get LINUX EFI/UFEI installed on the GPT boot...
/dev/sdb2 NTFS
/dev/sdb3 swap
//sdb4 16 gig Factory restore , (need to to move off onto a USB stick)
//sdb5 === /
I gpt'd the drive as you dont nned to waste space making old dos extedned or linux exteded partitions ,
and will soon do same to primary drive...
primary is 1tb
factory is 750 gig , which I plan to replace with another 1TB drive....
I would love 1TB laptop SSD but weres my Powerball tickets ..... 2-10,000 ahem dollars a drive....
I keep alot of tools on laptop linux images windows PE disks ....
FIX Pc's and servers for a living and keep a few MMO's on laptop so
Unfortunalty SSD's just wont do for me... I need the space...
but thier are a few 4 TB hitachi externals so that may do in the future ....
