Black screen during installation SL8

Postby Zarnak » Mon Feb 20, 2012 9:34

Hi.
I recently downloaded Sabayon Linux CDX x86 and I'm trying to get it installed on my computer which I built last year (specs to follow). I'm currently trying to install Sabayon from a liveUSB i created with unetbootin but I keep running into errors.
The USB runs fine but when i make the selection to install via the graphical tool or run SL8 Live I get greeted by a black screen. Nothing more. tty1-6 and 8-X works just fine and I get the option to run the text-based installer.

If I choose to run the textbased installer everything works fine. However. The installer will not seperate my partitions on my HDD and thus I cannot install SL8 the way that I want. Since I run a dual boot system I'd very much like to avoid using this option since I'm afraid it will overwrite my W7 partition.

I also tried to run the graphical installation on my work laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad T520) and everything worked fine, albeit, there was a rather long pause after picking graphical installation on the boot menu.
I tried all these things with Sabayon Linux 7 as well but got the same results.

EDIT : I've also been running Sabayon 7 CDX x86 in a virtual machine without problems on earlier mentioned work laptop.

My computer specifications. (Considering there might be compatibility errors)
ASUS P8Z68 LE
Intel i5 2500K
AMD HD 6950
Kingston HyperX 8 GB 1600 MHz RAM
Western Digital Caviar Black 500 GB
TP-Link 811.11b/g wireless network card

Excuse me if this has been posted before, I didn't find a thread though and neither have I found anything on other sites.
