fresh install, reboot hald fails.sorry "[Solved]"

Postby hotmexican1983 » Sun Jul 11, 2010 21:57

hi, shut i have been out of touch with linux for a while.
so i am kinda lost as to what to do since i guess you could concider me a nub.
i just intalled sabayon g 5.3 i did it from a usb key (i downloaded the iso and than put it to a usb key witha peace of software from windows. )
the boot from the key with out any problems just as if it were a dvd.
than i installed, than went onto browsing the internet while it was all being installed, the process was done and so i rebooted, ( i installed with no swap and i did it on a / ext4 partition.)
first boot grub no problem starts the boot process and than it get to hald and it says it failed to start not giveing me an error but in turn it made gdm not to start along with the the network adapters and it falls to init 3 to just leave me in console mode so i played arround with some sugestions that other people gave to problems with hall and no luck i even read the wikis and all and i cant find any info as to what is going on i dont want to reinstall just yet but i think it is the best thing to do concidering that it might have been a problem from the options setting i selected and the info i gave it during the install, i gave it the same password for root and user ( that might be it who know) thanks you.

hmmmm, not seeing reports on this from others. Have you checked the md5sum of the iso to make sure it was good? The password thing isn't going to cause hald to break. Sounds like bad iso or install.
