What :
Ibiblio.org is helping us out with space / downloads for free.
This is here to make life easier / stable connection / files for downloading / syncing to other servers and would make it much easier to get a new copy of SL using any of the download methods.
Use it but do not abuse it.
Current Status:
Currently updating last few things for this connection.
See download page for links:
FTP: 100% there + set to 2 times a week about rsync with main server in Italy , unless Fabio does it himself for new releases etc .
HTTP: need to add a few more files so use ftp in webbrowser or any way you like as default until http is current / have all current files listed but will work for what is there now.
Rsync:// should be up and running / posted soon , likely works already , have not posted link yet.
torrent.ibiblio.org :
Should be ready by this weekend 7 oct 2007 about and have active links for downloading. Once ready Fabio /Admin = update this to the download page as is necesary.
What does this mean for you as a downloader:
Stable solid download for files + correct md5 so no more need for files not completed errors. + the torrent.ibiblio.org is a seeding server or ends up as 1 full active seed + any others full seeds as they come along for new torrents / SL versions as this uses the ftp files to seed from directly. There can still be rubish downloaded to you from someone trying to be spitefull or by mistake linked to incorrect file they are downloading or seeding but the "block bad sender" type option in some torrent programs should take care of this. MD5 should always stay the default ftp md5 of that file.
Linuxtracker + torrent.ibiblio ?
Currently looking at using both and or ibiblio as main + 2nd tracker = linuxtracker still working out some kinks in the line. Fabio has admin direct access to all this but it seems having ibiblio torrent as main is easier for now and then clone anywhere else = easier for distrobution and for adding trackers to then the current ibiblio.org torrent file. Can not yet realy do it vice versa. It is also once the ftp file is there and torrent created = imediately available for download on ibilio.
Why change now:
No change meerly adding strong extra hands to do the job of getting the files correctly to you.
Do I have to register for ibiblio.org:
No need , all free but they are doing us a favor so keep them in mind and or help them where and when possible. Any help they get will also help us / SabayonLinux in the end.
http://www.ibiblio.org . They do accept donations as checks mailed to the local address on their website but throw them a line to get correct info.
They need help with osprey project = torrent server + gui interface / adding features to the opsrey client and feel free to help if you can.
Hope this helps
