alsa probs in gaming, help please

Postby hedgie » Fri Jun 15, 2007 4:06

hi everyone, i am a new user to sabayon and Linux, the os is great and am learning alot, from what i can find the only semi recent games that work on linux, are quake 4 and doom 3, i have doom3 -roe working fine with the alsa layer, but quake 4 wont work, so i emerged the -oss compatibility layer to alsa and now quake 4 is working fine but the doom3-roe isn't, i have disabled the surround sound options in the kmixer as well, any ideas?

i have also installed Half Life 2, installs fine even boots into game and allows selection of options, but when the game loads there is a problem with the dxlevel, i have tried to boot game with as low as -novid -console -dxlevel 70, with no luck, i am sure it is the dxlevel compatibility and level crashing the game,
(wine ,nvidia 2X8800 gtx in sli ("Sli" "AA")), any help would be appreciated, thanks brendon

PS. anyone working on getting lord of the rings online working in Linux???
