diablo 2 install trouble [Solved]

Postby gav989 » Sun Feb 14, 2010 13:44

i had diablo 2 installed fine, but sometimes when i tried to use it online (through battle.net) it would say i couldn't login because someone else was using my key (probably a pirate). i managed to get another key out of blizzard so i decided to uninstall and then reinstall diablo with the new key

however, not paying much attention and not being on linux for long, i clicked on the uninstall option in the applications-wine-diablo 2 rather than doing it the proper way (through wine)

now it won't install. i'm using the same setup file as i did before when i had no problems, but when i open it and the install menu appears, clicking on 'install diablo' causes it to encounter a serious problem.

is it possible that there is still something left over from the previous install that is preventing my reinstall?

i've tried reinstalling wine but that didn't change anything

i managed to get it to install by using the three separate cds which i had lying around from my 'naughty' days (but using the key i paid for)

still not sure why the install file i got from blizzard wasn't working, but anyone facing this issue should try using the three cds version, worked for me
