Interesting... my SL 4.0-r1 installation upgraded to SL 4.2 did not have the Menu Editor option, so I had to type kmenuedit and later added it to the Menu using itself (if that makes sense). But I have this evening done a fresh install of SL 4.1 KDE (due to too many interaction problems between KDE 3.5.10 and KDE 4.2); I have just looked and, indeed, Menu Editor is there as an option. So, piece of cake.

It is interesting because my installation is a fully updated 4.0-r1! (I couldn't get sound to work on Thunderbird with 4.1 K).
I use the "classic" menu - I wonder if that made a difference.

I found "kmenuedit" with menu > search, and found "new > link to application" on the desktop.
The kmenuedit has successfully moved mahjongg3d and xmahjongg to the menu.

Kmahjongg did appear to install, as it took more time than the other two applications.

john@localhost ~ $ locate kmahjongg
/usr/share/doc/kde/libkmahjongg-4.0.5
/usr/share/doc/kde/libkmahjongg-4.0.5/README.libkmahjongg.bz2
/usr/share/doc/kde/libkmahjongg-4.0.5/README.bz2
/usr/share/doc/kde/libkmahjongg-4.0.5/AUTHORS.bz2
/usr/share/doc/kde/kmahjongg-4.0.5
/usr/share/doc/kde/kmahjongg-4.0.5/README.bz2
/usr/share/doc/kde/kmahjongg-4.0.5/AUTHORS.bz2
/usr/share/doc/kde/kmahjongg-3.5.9
/usr/kde/4.0/bin/kmahjongg
/usr/kde/4.0/share/applications/kde4/kmahjongg.desktop
--- etc ---

I had downloaded a mahjong to desktop a few days ago, that hasn't opened.
Maybe by doing that it messed up the installation? Neither location of kmahjongg is opening.

You may also find that running kappfinder will add the missing games to your menu.

I've not found the "K."
Kappfinder is neat, though it didn't find the 3 games.

Thanks for the link. I will look into updating the 571 packages.

Sorry, I should have made it clear, the "K" is the KDE equivalent of the Windows "Start" button. Sometimes it's branded so doesn't show as just "K". Bottom left hand corner of your screen is the usual place to find it.

I thought that was a paw. :)

It turns out that mahjongg3d and xmahjongg are too basic for what I'm looking for.

Any more suggestions to get kmahjongg working are much appreciated.
It is apparently loaded on my computer, and is on my desktop, but is not working yet.

What happens when you try to run

Code: Select all
kmahjongg

from a command prompt - do you get any error messages?

Have you tried this command?

Code: Select all
/usr/kde/4.0/bin/kmahjongg

Code: Select all
kmahjongg

$ kmahjongg
bash: kmahjongg: command not found

Code: Select all
/usr/kde/4.0/bin/kmahjongg

$ /usr/kde/4.0/bin/kmahjongg
QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified
QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified
QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified
QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified

It opened with "/usr/kde/4.0/bin/kmahjongg!"

I put kmahjonngg in the menu with kmenuedit again, but it still doesn't open from there.

Put /usr/kde/4/0/bin/kmahjongg in the command line in the menu.

Thank you very much. :)

My fault. I put a typo in. :oops:

Put /usr/kde/4.0/bin/kmahjongg in the command line in the menu. Is what I should have written.
