Steam Client for Linux "coming soon"

Postby BlueJayofEvil » Sat Dec 06, 2008 4:28

Just came across this article recently: Steam Client for Linux Confirmed.
Looks like we might be playing more games on Linux in the near future. :D

Almost thought this was a prank as I used to run steam in rr64 ages ago (or 8 computers back) but it must have been in wine or cedega or something, can not even remeber my steam account info or what games I own on there

A real download link:
http://www.japje.nl/wp-content/steam/steam.tar.gz
as well as on our ibiblio.org server under steam.

Apparently the extracted "steam" that is it steam client beta. I would presume it is missing several dependancy's as installing this and making it work used to be so much fun.

For the half life fans here is a old school LHL how-to:

A forums with more info:

Here is a straight forward guide LOL very detailed:

That is it enough diging up the past.
