I think Microsoft may have a winner on their hands for a change.

The keyboard doubles as the cover and looks significantly lighter and thinner than e.g. the Asus Transformer's detachable keyboard. The magnetically-attachable keyboard is exactly what I have been wanting on a tablet, and, with this, the Surface blurrs the line between tablets and ultrabooks (a.k.a. ultra laptops).

I also like the fact that two different interchangeable keyboard models are available, Touch Cover and Type Cover:

I wonder if can run Plasma Active?

The surface pro sounds like a nice piece of hardware. But it's SSD is quite small (why not placing 256 or 512GB of internal storage), it's shape it's ugly, it won't come in any color other than black (the ugly shape and dull color are due to the fact that Steve Ballmer thinks that any computer with specs higher than a kids toy MUST LOOK AS UGLY AS POSSIBLE AND BE OF THE DULLEST AND UGLIEST COLOR POSSIBLE because in his mind UGLY AND DULL = PROFESSIONAL and HIGH END MUST LOOK PROFESSIONAL. He will never accept a high end PC that looks pretty and colorful) and It's gonna come with SecureBoot enabled, with no setup mode or disable option, despite the fact that the surface pro is x86 (It's a M$ product, what else did you expect from the lock-in king).

Fitzcarraldo
Be careful if you purchase it you will pay high MS tax even if you change the OS.
No doubt that Asus or somebody else will copy this keyboard if it has some success.

Another thing to consider is that the touch cover keyboard (only the NON-DULL, NON-PROFFESSIONAL, COLORFULL models have this "manufacturing flaw", the black touch cover model was "casually" made from a superior material) splits apart at the seams.
