So, I decided to buy a UMTS MoDem (one of those USB sticks with a built-in SD card reader) and i knew it wouldn't work with Linux just like that. There i am, researching how to get things work, which software i need, etc, and then i realized i'm doing the work that i already paid somebody else for (my local vendor, the service provider, etc). People from the open-source community come up with drivers, apps and interfaces for unsupported hardware, because the producers don't provide it. Why don't they provide it? (one of the reasons is) Because of not enough requests. So, this is what i came up with:
This is an appeal to vendors, manufacturers and service providers to support alternative operating systems
My operating system of choice is GNU/Linux. I want to kindly ask you to provide support for my chosen system in the form of precompiled binaries or open source code.
Thank you in advance.
(replace "Linux" with your favorite system)
Do you think this is a good idea or do you have any recommendations or suggestions?
