Problema con la connessione wifi

Salve, per caso le attività della scheda wireless vengono salvate in qualche file? Io ho controllato in var/log e non ho trovato nulla... Praticamente mi capita di perdere la connessione ad internet anche se il simbolo del wireless mi dice che sono collegato. Per risolvere devo riavviare sabayon.

Credo che un log esclusivo per il wireless non venga effettuato, ma se l'inconveniente capita a 'motore acceso' io farei questo tentativo. Aprirei una console e mi metterei in attesa degli eventi relativi alla wireless con il comando:
#tail -f /var/log/messages
e se ci fossero attività hardware le puoi vedere. Puoi uscire con ctrl-z.
I ping verso indirizzi conosciuti (es.: google) funzionano?
C'è un router di mezzo? Se sì, come è configurato?
Posta il risultato di lspci e lsusb.

Questa cosa non mi capita spesso quindi sarà difficile beccare il momento "giusto"...
La configurazione del router è giusta visto che il 99% delle volte funziona tutto regolare :)

Certo che è random e (per definizione) questi inconvenienti sono i più difficili da risolvere.
Cerchiamo di circoscrivere il problema.
1) Mentre lavori normalmente lascia aperta la console con il comando 'tail' di cui sopra. Al massimo la iconizzi ed aspetta l'evento, purtroppo non è detto che ci sia una segnalazione , ma vale la pena (imho) provare.
2) dai i comandi ifconfig e iwconfig quando funziona tutto ed anche dopo il blocco. Posta i risultati, così possiamo fare ulteriori considerazioni.
Domanda: Il segnale è sempre forte o è 'ballerino'?

Il segnale è costante e forte. L'altro portatile e il fisso con l'antenna wifi usb non hanno problemi.

Googlando, ho scoperto che molti hanno avuto il tuo problema. :roll:
Con il comando
#lsmod | grep iwl
vedi che modulo viene caricato per il wifi.
Potrebbe eesere iwlwifi oppure iwlagn.
Supponoiamo sia iwlwifi.
Qualcuno ha risolto così: quando il wifi non va, invece di spegnere il sistema, dai i seguenti comandi:
#rmmod iwlwifi
#modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1
e poi lavora normalmente e vedi se si sconnette ancora.

P.S.: Se funziona poi vediamo come rendere definitivo il caricamento dell'opzione 11n_disable=1.

è diviso in 3 parti.

Il modulo che viene caricato per il wifi è il iwlwifi ( controllato tempo fa ), soltanto che non ho potuto eseguire quei 2 comandi perchè non li ricordavo.

Rettifica: quando ho perso la connessione anche il fisso non si connetteva.
