I don't know if it is applicable as a splash screen, however here is my GDM login theme:

It is an image from Elfen Lied (great anime, even if a little brutal )
This login theme is not Sabayon branded, but it is based on the default Sabayon theme, I am still fixing it up a bit, but I have not much time for it...
