wallpaper / open horizon

Postby fqnk » Tue Mar 03, 2009 13:18

New wallpaper I made last night. The photo is taken in winter time in iceland some years back. Not fully happy with the editing yet, going to work some more on it when I get the time.

Think you might have needed to set the shutter to extremely fast or sport mode then the contrast might have been better. Been a while since I used a decent camera.

Try spliting the image into 2 zones / halfes , get as much of the sun and brightness into 1 jpeg and most of the dark / mountain undersaturated ? into 2nd jpeg.

Then try playing with the contrast and other settings you might think will work or that looks good.

Finally merge the 2 back again into 1 and you should have a better result.

PS is this scanned from a picture or digital orriginal. Also slides or actual print picture scan ?

You might be able to get a newer picture of the same area and super impose the sun ontop.

Hope this helps.

Hi WarraWarra, thank you for your input and suggestions! The image is taken on a fujifine pix S5500 digital camera 4 years ago. The original image is a little bit flat gray, the exposure isnt that great. I guess I could fix it some what with a little fine tuning and overlaying if I wanted it to be a crisp shot. But I was going for a more styles look in this case. All the black and the over the top high contrast washout look is done on purpose. I Just took the original image and did some overlaying and painted in some vintage lens look on top.
