This could also allow the testing of new drivers in both testing and stock / stable kernel within one installed hd version or comparison to find the problem causing this if bug / problem that is not driver related.
Might be able to somehow update the installed kernel + patches using a xdelta type idea without changing anything else on the installed hd version with both working and testing kernels or just add a new updated testing kernel as 3rd boot option + /lib.../modules .
